Januar is a young company, officially founded in January 2021. We have a unique set of experienced people from diverse industries all coming together to grow Januar, into the unicorn everyone is dreaming of.

The Position & Why we need you!

As a Product Manager at Januar, you will support the Head of Product Jens Warnez who is your direct manager. You will be part of a dual-track agile team in which you take ownership of Product Discovery, while a colleague takes ownership of Product Delivery. The Product Discovery role is both a customer-facing role and an internal go-to-market team facing role. Should you have a mixture of PM/PO skills, consider applying for both positions and elaborate on your full range skills as we may also consider mixed profiles.

Januar has a Payment Institute Licence with the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority enabling Januar to set up relationships with banks to integrate their infrastructure for Januar’s own product offering. By the time you start, Januar will have launched its MVP that will provide crypto companies with access to the multicurrency IBAN payment accounts that crypto companies can use to collect and disburse payment from/to their own customer base.

Your mission is to expand the product with selected value-adding functionality so that crypto companies can manage both their fiat and crypto financial flows better, faster and cheaper!

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Interacting with and knowing Januar’s customers:
    • Gather, process, quantify, and share insights from the market, customer interviews, and by collaborating with other customer-facing departments
    • Map out customer journeys
    • Create user stories
    • Understand customer financial fiat + crypto payment flows & communicate those internally
    • Create and own personas
  • Participate in product daily stand-ups to coordinate and share insights.
  • Work closely with the Head of Product to identify, prioritise and define success criteria of value-adding capabilities and features.
  • Validate capabilities and features with prospects and customers before and during they implementation to minimise risk and increase the value provided to both the customer and Januar.
  • Take higher-level capabilities from Head of Product to further granularize in features in collaboration with a delivery-focused product colleague.
  • Do competitor research to ensure Januar knows how we are positioned in the market.
  • Own customer-facing documentation and be the go-to-point for questions about the product.
  • Work closely with the Head of Product to represent the customer and the Product team towards go-to-market teams like Sales, Marketing, and Business Development.

What you bring to the table to be succesful

  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing Product role with proven success.
  • Knowledge of common Product Management frameworks and tools.
  • Communication skills involving external and internal stakeholders.
  • You are not afraid of asking questions, and you ask the questions that matter! You have a mindset of first getting answers to the “why” and “what” of customer problems/needs/jobs before contemplating solutions.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.
  • Enthusiasm about the crypto finance products we are going to build! Ideally, you also have experience in crypto, fiat payments, or the general finance industry. Detailed knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge about Product Analytics, UI, UX, or Wireframing is a plus.
  • Openness and transparency about the work you do and knowledge you acquire, sharing is caring ;-)
  • You like to own responsibilities and stand accountable for them.
  • A growth mindset with an eagerness to learn.
  • Fluency in Danish and other languages are a big plus.
  • You live in Copenhagen or are willing to relocate.
  • A healthy dose of humour.

Your first steps

In the first weeks, you will learn about Januar and the industry we operate in, this includes the current product roadmap and existing market research. In the first month, you are expected to collaborate with the Head of Product to create processes for you to subsequently exercise. During this time you will also align and define career milestones for upcoming months.

If there is still mutual interest, we will set up an interview with the hiring manager, so you can learn more about the specific job at hand. We might give you a small assignment that we can talk about in a second interview.
