The role

We are looking for a Customer Due Diligence Manager to conduct screening and compliance checks of new customers signing up with Januar.

Your responsibilities include implementation of new compliance policies and procedures, conducting customer compliance checks and updating compliance practices as we grow and learn.

You need to have a keen eye for details and not be afraid to raise a red flag, and be excited about ensuring a great customer experience - regardless whether we onboard the customer or not. You will work with our comprehensive Operations Manual, but you need to be able to think critically and ask tailored, relevant questions for each potential customer.

Ultimately, you’ll ensure that our customer compliance processes run smoothly and that customers have a good experience when doing business with Januar

Your responsibilities

  • Promote exemplary compliance, high customer service standards, and the development of standardised and inclusive approaches to customer analysis and onboarding
  • Collaborate with customers to provide the necessary documentation for a compliant onboarding
  • Perform recurring PEP and sanction screenings
  • Report any hits of the screening through our internal processes
  • Support KYC related escalation tasks

Skills and expertise

  • Experience handling confidential data
  • Experience working with KYC and AML processes, preferably also PEP and CTF
  • Knowledge of GDPR and Compliance in relation to customer onboarding
  • Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing, as you will communicate with people with diverse skill sets inside and outside of Januar

Last, but not least: You take pride in seeing each process through from the very start to the final onboarding!

Setting expectations

  • We expect you to have a keen interest in finance and cryptocurrency, but no pre-knowledge is required
  • The main goals for the first few months will be running the daily operations based on our current Operations Manual
  • Within 6-12 months, we expect the Operations team to have grown to 4-5 people

Starting date

We are evaluating incoming applications and doing interviews on a running basis, with the earliest start date being January 5, 2022.


What is Januar? 

In short, our goal is to bridge bitcoin and banking. Currently, we enable access to bank accounts for cryptocurrency businesses, as the first step on our journey to build the gateway between crypto and fiat.

We base our business on trust and transparency, as well as solid expertise and experience in finance and crypto. We’re not all crypto experts, but we expect you to be curious and willing to both share your knowledge and learn from your colleagues.

We’re a team of 25 now, and we expect to grow noticeably in size over the coming months.
